International Women’s Day
The United Nations celebrated International Women’s year in 1975, and after that it was celebrated annually on March 8. A couple years later in December 1977 the General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a “United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace to be observed on any day of the year by Member States, in accordance with their historical and national traditions.” This year the theme for International women’s day is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.
International Women’s day is a date to celebrate women’s achievements through history across nations. At Elim village in Surrey we are very fortunate to have women occupy 92% of our workforce. With that in mind, there is no shortage of examples of the great things that are accomplished at Elim day to day by our incredible women. Interesting fact, our ladies come from over 25 different nations! Pictured above are some of the fabulous and inspirational women that work here at Elim Village.
To all of our wonderful Elim Women, today we celebrate the strength within you!
Happy International Women’s Day!
