ELIM CEO Nominated as President of BCCPA Board

“Yes, I’m very excited,” says Ron Pike, Chief Executive Officer of Elim Village, in reference to his recent nomination to President of the Board of the BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA).

Established in 1977, BCCPA is a member-driven organization that acts as the leading voice of B.C.’s continuing care sector. The Association supports its members to provide safe, high quality of life to seniors through research, education, advocacy, and partnerships.

“I’m excited because I really believe there’s a challenge in our sector right now,” continues Ron, referencing the health human resource crises and growing need for new housing inventory. “We need to find ways to facilitate dialogue in order to create the right outcomes for older adults. We need to bring together the collective intelligence we have and work in a positive direction to serve seniors.”

The ‘collective intelligence’ referenced are the staff and fellow board members of the BCCPA, all proven and experienced leaders within Seniors Living. “We have an extremely qualified and knowledgeable board,” comments Ron. “Any time you’re in a role like that [of President], you feel fortunate to have leaders with strong track records around the table. Together, we are working to make a positive difference.”

Ron has been involved with the Board of BCCPA since 2012. During his initial six-year term, he served on several committees, and then re-joined the Board in 2019, serving as a member at large. In December 2022, he was nominated as chair and President of the Board for the next three-year term.

With Ron’s extensive leadership experience both at ELIM and in various roles with the BCCPA, he’s ready to tackle this new role and challenge. “There’s a lot of good things in the way B.C. has set up Seniors Living and Care. There’s a really good mix between not-for-profit, for-profit, and government-funded options out there for seniors. There are few things that need to be fixed, but once we fix them, we can leverage that mix to the benefit of older adults. And for board members, our work is not just on behalf of the member organizations we represent; ultimately, we see ourselves as advocating for seniors themselves.”
