Elim Village operates two exceptional aging in place communities for older adults. Our retirement villages are located in Surrey and Chilliwack, B.C., where over 1,000 seniors call Elim Village ‘home’. Job Summary
The Concierge passionately serves Elim Village Garrison Crossing residents, families, guests, and campus visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately; notifying organization personnel of visitor arrival; maintaining Hawthorn front desk; scheduling appointments and performing a variety of duties at resident events and programs. The Concierge creates a welcoming environment, while connecting residents to services and helping them navigate life within the Elim Village Garrison Crossing Community. As a principle/initial contact point between Elim Village and its various stakeholders, the concierge needs to have a strong customer service orientation and be a positive reflection of the organization and its values.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a relational face-to-face service-oriented position
- Previous experience in a customer service organization or senior living community
- Basic working knowledge of MS Office software, (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, & OneDrive)
- Hospitality and administrative training and/or experience would be an asset
Key Responsibilities
- Being a daily difference-maker through the provision of concierge services
- Addressing and resolving needs, complaints, and/or issues brought to your attention
- Connecting residents to services, to each other and resources within the community
- Creating a welcoming environment for new residents, while helping them transition into life at Elim Village
- Assisting at and leading a variety of resident Community Life & Wellness Events
- Respond and provide assistance to phone, in-person and electronic inquiries, ensuring the message reflects Elim Village’s Mission
- Assist with or refer all inquiries to appropriate individuals/departments across Elim Village
- Provide administrative support and office duties as needed or assigned
- Administer and manage inbound/outbound mail, including priority post, packages, courier services, and other correspondence
- Maintain up to date resources for residents and families

- Must have empathy towards residents and families and able to work well with them
- Superior relational skills and a genuine customer-service focus
- Superb ability to listen and proactively address issues
- Great at multi-tasking, handling multiple and shifting demands and timelines
- Good organizational skills
- Adept at handling challenging situations and diffusing conflict
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate well with residents, resident family members, colleagues and members of the executive team
- Ability to work flexible hours to respond to organization needs
- Commitment to high standards of service
- Superior problem-solving and connecting/networking skills
- Ability to work with a diverse population of older adults
- Superior telephone etiquette and strong interpersonal skills
- Able to present a positive and professional image of the organization to all residents, visitors and suppliers
- Must have proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, dealing with diverse departments and personalities
- Physical capacity to meet the jobs demands
- Proficient computer skills, and ability to learn new systems

- This is a permanent part-time position
- Competitive compensation based on qualifications and experience
- Wage Rate: $26.49 to $29.97 per hour
