National Therapeutic Recreation Awareness Month (3/5)
Half way through National Therapeutic Recreation Awareness Month, we meet Sheryl who has worked at Elim Village for a little over 5 years. Her daily duties keep her busy in The Emerald as she leads fitness classes, assists with programs and is involved in regular outings on our Community Shuttle. What motivates Sheryl is:
“As a Wellness Assistant I really enjoy seeing the joy of our residents and their continued growth. I joke that I work with seniors because it keeps me young – but it is so true! They are always interested in learning new things and having new experiences. This keeps me on my toes to be one step ahead of them to create more meaningful experiences for them. I also appreciate how they want to keep physically active and their sense of dedication in the exercise classes I lead. I feel a sense of satisfaction when one of them will tell me a story of how their doctor cannot believe how much their mobility has improved and they excitedly say, ‘It’s all because of your class Sheryl.’ It just doesn’t get better than this!”
Thank you to Sheryl and the entire Wellness team for what you do on a daily basis!
