To conclude with Seniors’ Week in British Columbia.
At Elim Village, we think this is an opportune time to reflect on our nations seniors. Seniors born from 1910 to 1924 are often referred to as the ’Greatest Generation’. Elim has many in this demographic; those that have lived through the great depression and gallantly served during the Second World War. This group was followed by the ’Silent Generation,’ born roughly between 1925 and 1945. Many of these seniors made the difficult decision to emigrate to Canada from their countries of origin and start anew; often working in the farming and industry sectors. They strived for a better life in this country, raised families and built communities.
We have a large diverse spectrum of older adults living at Elim; immigrants from abroad, sons and daughters of immigrants and those born and raised in this country. Our seniors have been instrumental in making Canada the incredible country it is today. May their contribution to Canada not go unnoticed!
Thank you for your part in making this country what is today. We are truly grateful.
