Job Summary

The Business Manager – Community Life is a key member of the Community Life team, providing administrative direction and oversight to Community Life operations. As a member of the leadership team, you will support the overall function of the department on a day-to-day basis and provide valuable input into the strategic goals and quality improvement projects in support of ELIM’s mission. The Business Manager – Community Life reports to the Director of Community Life.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated knowledge and skills in management, finance, and marketing
  • Interest and knowledge in promoting health and well-being for older adults
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications—Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, billing, spreadsheets, graphs, analyzing, budget preparation, financial forecasting, and reports
  • Aptitude for learning and utilizing software applications
  • Direct experience with Yardi Software and Workforce Now is considered an asset
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records and Accounting / Property Management Software

  • Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize work
  • Effective leadership skills focused on operational efficiency
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations governing Assisted Living and Home Care operations
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
  • Strong analytical skills and a commitment to operational excellence

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily business operations of Community Life, serving as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage resident processes from move-in to move-out, including the maintenance of accurate resident records
  • Collaborate with the team on strategic planning and goal setting, in support of future plans
  • Support the development and implementation of operational and capital budgets
  • Manage supply orders and inventory
  • Maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations / other regulatory bodies
  • Provide supervision to the receptionist / admin / scheduler role and other assigned functions
  • Utilize Point of Sale and Yardi software effectively, including collaboration / training / guidance to staff—connection with the experts in finance and Yardi
  • Any additional functions as assigned

  • May be required to work outside of regular office hours to complete tasks by scheduled deadlines
  • Ability to deal with problem-solving situations and exercise sound judgement
  • Is a competent person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Is knowledgeable of supervisors’ responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Monitors adherence to safety policies and procedures of all employees and promotes safe work practices for self and others
  • Is alert to, remedies, or promptly reports all actual or potential hazardous situations to the appropriate personnel, i.e. maintenance, owners
  • This is a Full-Time position at the Fleetwood Campus
