Elim Achieves Three-Year CARF Accreditation

We are excited to announce that Elim has achieved a Three-Year Accreditation term through CARF!

What is CARF?

CARF stands for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. In the senior living sector, a health care organization can apply for accreditation to assess itself against standards that evaluate the quality of service and care being provided. CARF surveys hundreds of thousands of programs worldwide, including long-term care (Full Care) facilities. Receiving a CARF accreditation assures residents, family members, staff, and the public that an organization has met (and maybe exceeded!) standards for the industry.

What is the CARF Accreditation Process?

Elim’s CARF accreditation survey process took place virtually on June 13 – 14, 2022. The survey included well over 58 Elim participants, including residents, family members, stakeholders, staff, and board members. A virtual tour of both Full Care buildings, the Harrison and Harrison West, was also provided. Following the survey, the CARF surveyors reviewed their findings to determine the length of Elim’s accreditation term, of which there are three possibilities:

  1. Provisional Accreditation
  2. One-Year Accreditation
  3. Three-Year Accreditation

Elim’s mission to bring the best in housing, wellness, and care was recognized when we received the full Three-Year Accreditation term! The Three-Year Accreditation means that Elim has satisfied each of the CARF conditions and that we demonstrate substantial conformance to the required standards and have a track record of quality improvement.

A Successful Accreditation Process

Our Director of Care, Jennifer Ladesma, shares her excitement on the successful accreditation process.

“The surveyors could clearly see the dedication and commitment to improving the lives of residents is being achieved here at Elim,” she comments. “The respect for residents and the comradery amongst the staff during the accreditation group interviews was palpable. Our teams came through with flying colours.”

We are grateful for each of our team members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare for this process. Achieving the maximum 3-year accreditation term highlights Elim’s ability to deliver an exceptional aging in place experience for older adults.
