Enhancing Safety and Sleep at The Harrison with Sleepsense
At Elim Village, we believe innovation should enhance both safety and dignity. That’s why we’re proud to expand Sleepsense, an advanced sleep and safety monitoring system, to all complex care residents within The Harrison, our Full Care residence in Fleetwood.
After introducing Sleepsense in our Behavioural Stabilization Transitional Neighbourhoods (BSTN) two years ago, we saw clear improvements in both resident well-being and staff support. Now, with this latest expansion completed in July 2025, the technology is helping even more residents experience better sleep, while giving care teams the tools they need to respond quickly and effectively.

So — what is Sleepsense?
It’s a small, non-invasive sensor placed under one leg of the bed. It quietly tracks a resident’s movements, sleep quality, heart rate, and breathing — sending real-time alerts to care staff if a resident needs help or hasn’t returned to bed. This allows for faster response times and fewer interruptions overnight, helping residents sleep better and stay safe.
“Our team is already seeing the benefits,” says Jennifer Ladesma, Director of Care at Elim Village. “It helps reduce falls, allows for more restful nights, and gives our evening and night staff greater peace of mind and efficiency.”
By expanding Sleepsense within The Harrison, Elim is once again demonstrating how thoughtful innovation can strengthen person-centered care — balancing leading-edge technology with deep compassion.
