Strong Interest Persists as Elim Village Garrison Crossing’s Final Building Reaches 50% Sold
It’s a clear sign of the rapidly growing demand for seniors housing in Chilliwack: The Cedar at Elim Village Garrison Crossing is now 50% sold! As the fourth and final Independent Living building on campus, The Cedar is filling up fast — thanks to the dedicated work of Elim’s sales team, who continue to walk alongside future residents as they plan their next chapter.
We spoke with three key members of the team — Rachel Nedelec, Sales and Marketing Manager; and Connie Harms and Donna Little, Marketing Assistants — to reflect on this milestone, share what makes The Cedar unique, and offer insight into the lifestyle that awaits future residents.
Strong demand, thoughtful support
“The demand for senior housing is only growing,” Rachel says. “Here in Chilliwack — where there aren’t nearly as many options as in other parts of the Lower Mainland — we’ve seen strong and steady interest from the start.”
That demand has only grown as seasons have changed. “When we launched The Cedar, it was the middle of winter and people were tired of shoveling snow. Now it’s summer, and many are ready to be done with yard work and home maintenance,” Rachel says. “The maintenance-free lifestyle The Cedar offers is a huge draw and knowing you can age-in- place in a supportive and welcoming community makes all the difference.”
Through it all, the team has remained intentional with every interaction. “The strong response has reminded us how important it is to slow down. Everyone’s situation is different, and their reasons for moving are unique and personal. It pushes us to stay relationship-focused every step of the way.”

A first-class finish for the final phase
As the last Independent Living building planned for Garrison Crossing, The Cedar is your final opportunity for a new suite at Elim Village. “There is no more ‘I’ll wait for the next building,’” Donna explains. “Once it’s sold out, our waitlists will grow dramatically.”
Residents are particularly excited about the building’s southern exposure, unobstructed views, and purposeful amenity spaces. “All our Independent Living buildings encourage connection, and The Cedar is no exception,” she says. “There’s even an underground tunnel connecting residents to friends in other buildings — rain or shine.”
Upgrades have been thoughtfully selected based on resident feedback over the years. “The Cedar has sound-dampening windows, in-floor heated tile in the ensuite, counter-depth refrigerators, waterfall quartz countertops, and large tiled walk-in showers with built-in seats,” says Donna. “Elim really listens.”
A place to call home
Beyond the bricks and mortar, life at Elim offers rich experiences and meaningful connection. “Community and fun are a big part of what we offer,” says Connie. “From coffee shops and garden boxes to ice cream socials and worship gatherings, there’s something for everyone in our caring, Christian community.”
The campus location offers unbeatable access to nature and local amenities. “The Vedder River Rotary Trail is just two blocks away, and Garrison Village — with groceries, cafes, shops, and the Cheam Leisure Centre — is right across the street.”
That blend of accessibility and community has created something special. “We see people blossom,” Connie says. “It’s great to see introverts who never thought they craved friendships warm up to friendly chatter in the gardens or over a puzzle in the lounge. There’s a real sense of belonging.”
And Chilliwack? “It’s a city with a country heart,” she says. “You get wide-open spaces, familiar landmarks, and all the essentials — including a hospital and pharmacy.”

What comes next?
For those who are contemplating downsizing and making their next move, Rachel offers this advice: “The best time to move is when you don’t have to. If you wait too long, the decision might be made for you, instead of by you.”
With The Cedar on track to complete in mid-2026, there’s time to plan carefully. “It gives you a chance to downsize, prepare your home, and involve your family — without pressure.”
